2015 Wiener Dog Races




The Cottage Grove Area Habitat for Humanity is going to the dogs, and everyone is invited… Especially the dogs!  Yes, it’s the going to be a fabulous day of four legged fun at the annual Wiener Dog Races, Saturday, September 26th in Coiner Park.  All dogs are welcome to enter the Races,  Costume contest, Talent contest, and Photo contest!  So grab your doggie, and come on down to the park.  Registration starts at 10:00 a.m.  All proceeds benefit the Cottage Grove Area Habitat for Humanity.  Food, doggie treats, and Cool T-shirts on sale, too!  You and your doggie will have a blast!  So, mark the date on your calendar:  The 2015 Wiener Dog Races, Saturday, September 26th in Coiner Park, Cottage Grove.

Schedule of Events

Registration for all events begins at 10:00am. All Participants please check in at the registration table for registration packets and information.

Costume Contest begins at 10:30am. The contest will be divided into two groups –  Adults and Children. Judges will award ribbons to the Best Homemade costume; the Best Overall costume; and the Best Look Alike costumes in each group.

Talent Contest begins at 11:30am.  Judges will award ribbons for the Most Unique talent and the Best Overall talent.

Wiener Dog Races will begin at 1:00pm.  Final race time be at approximately 3:00pm and will depend on the number of racers. Trophies will be given for the final 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. You may bring your dog’s favorite toy to encourage them (no blankets or other large items). Please NO FOOD in the racetrack area. Only one owner will be allowed in the race area.

Photo Contest ribbons will be announced and awarded at 2:30pm. Judges will award ribbons for the best picture featuring your pet playing; the best pet yawn/stretch; and your pet sleeping. There will also be one “Peoples’ Choice” ribbon awarded.

Raffle winners will be announced after the Photo Contest ribbons are awarded (approximately 2:45pm).

Tee Shirts will be available for sale all day at the event and will cost $15 each.



Rules for the enjoyment and safety of everyone;

  • All dogs must be on a leash unless racing or performing in the talent contest. Pets must be under control at all times
  • Pets must be current on their vaccinations
  • Owners are required to clean up after their pet
  • No one is allowed to sell any animals at the event
  • Dogs should be on their best behavior (i.e. no fighting or biting)
  • Sponsors reserve the right to refuse entrance or ask to leave anyone whose pet is exhibiting aggressive behavior
